Unleash your inner designer with these top trends for 2025
Is your home interior feeling a little…tired? Maybe it’s time for a refresh! But with so many design trends out there, it can be overwhelming to know where to begin. Fear not, I’ve scoured the upcoming top trends to transform your space in 2025 for you. So here is your lowdown of the top trends predicted to dominate this year.
Embrace the curve
Step aside, sharp edges! 2025 welcomes a softer approach with curved lines and organic shapes leading the charge. Imagine a bathroom decorated with scalloped tiles, a rounded sofa anchoring your living room, or an oval rug creating a cohesive feel. These organic elements evoke a sense of comfort and create a more fluid flow in your space.
Earthy elegance
Brown is back, but not in the dark, traditional way. Think warm, earthy tones of terracotta, camel, and chocolate. These versatile shades can be used as a base colour for walls, furniture (raw wood coffee tables), or accents (light brown linen curtains), creating a sense of warmth and grounding your space.
Mixing metals
Forget sticking to one type of metal finish! In 2025, embrace the mix for a more dynamic look. Imagine pairing warm brass accents with cool chrome lighting fixtures. Or, consider a sleek chrome kitchen tap alongside brushed nickel cabinet hardware. This playful combination adds a touch of personality and visual intrigue.
Transitional styles
This has grown throughout the last year and is where you see new and old styles combine in one space. So try styling a contemporary space with vintage pieces, to create a timeless look with plenty of personality.
Colour drenching
This is a trend you will have seen more and more of in 2024 and it is here to stay, and I love it! This is where you paint the entire room in one colour; walls, ceiling and wood work. It is a great way to add a touch of drama and a bucket load of atmosphere to your room. Double drenching is a nuance to this trend where you use a slight tonal different paint on the woodwork, for example.
Wallpaper isn’t just for walls
Similarly to colour drenching this trend ensures the ceiling isn’t forgotten and is given as much attention as the rest of the room and decorated in a statement wallpaper. I love this concept although I wouldn’t want to be the one hanging the paper!
Lighting as art
There will be a move away from the ‘big’ over head light and a focus on light as art. Using wall sconces, LED lighting and accents that beautify your space.
Multifunctional spaces
With hybrid working here to stay homes need to have rooms with multiple functions and need to be flexible and ever changing. This can be created by zoning areas in a room with furniture such as book shelves. Using art to show where one areas starts and finishes. And use creative storage solutions to hide work clutter at the end of the day.
Remember, the best trends are those that resonate with you. So, hone your design skills, embrace your creativity, and transform your space into a space you’ll love! And if you need some guidance you only have to ask.
