A magical space to grow with
Brief – The brief was to create a Harry Potter-themed bedroom for a 9-year-old girl’s birthday—a space that celebrated her love for Slytherin House while also being adaptable as she grows from primary to secondary school.
Design – This enchanting redesign was crafted around my young client’s passion for the wizarding world, blending creativity with practicality. We explored her favourite elements of Harry Potter to create a room that was both magical and functional for reading, playing, and homework. The colour palette of Slytherin—greens and silver greys—was woven into the design through statement bedding, a reading chair, and curtain tie-backs crafted from Slytherin school ties. Playful touches included desk drawers decorated with book-inspired details like suitcase handles and Golden Snitches. The room was carefully zoned: a cosy nook with a bespoke Golden Snitch bean bag for relaxing and a formal chair for reading and homework. Special highlights included a ladder to a window mirror—designed to double as a spot for tossing clothes when she grows into a fashion-loving teen—and a light-up magic wand above the bed for a truly spellbinding feature.
The finished room captures the magic of Harry Potter while remaining practical, cosy, and ready to grow with her. It’s a space for playdates, dance routines, and daydreams—where function meets fantasy.
