Scandi Style Living Room

Brief – To completely redesign and decorate, with all new furnishings, this seemingly spacious living room following my client moving in to this modern property.  The property was only two years old and like many new builds it lacked in features and the wow factor, and despite its length, the room is actually quite narrow therefore limiting layout options.  My client wanted it to feel modern but warm and cosy for her and her young daughter but for there to be enough room to entertain when family and friends came around.  She was inspired by Scandi design but not sure how to translate that into a vision.

Design – The final room design had many elements of Scandi design with a muted pink and green colour palette and lots of natural lighting to make the room feel bigger.  Wood panelling is used to create a feature wall adding texture and warmth to the room. Modern wooden furniture and accessories, using elements from nature, really add to the Scandinavian feel.  The room is uncluttered, using different materials and textures.  A cosy area is created around the television with plenty of seating for friends and family to sit and relax together.  While at the other end of the room there is a restful nook to sit and read a book in peace or simply look out of the window and watch the world go by.

Having never used an interior designer before I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was not disappointed with my decision. Jenine listened careful to my needs and ideas and adapted the plan following my initial feedback. I’m so happy with the overall results. Everyone comments on the design of my lounge when they see it.
