Are you looking for some living room inspiration? You’ve come to the right place!
Adding a new lick of paint or feature wallpaper nook are the most obvious ways to spruce up your living room but there are lots of other tricks to give your room another dimension.
- You can create a cosy and calm feel by painting your walls and woodwork to match in a warming dark shade. Painting the woodwork and walls in the same colour helps blur lines and has the added bonus of not having to cut-in when decorating!
- Why not wallpaper the wall behind your sofa in a statement print to add depth to the room and interest to the seating area?
- If you are nervous to wallpaper a whole wall, then frame a panel of statement paper with wooden beading painted the same colour as the wall.
- Create a gallery wall to create personality to empty walls. Read my tips on how to do this.
- Make a small room feel bigger by painting the walls in a dark shade. This can give walls a receding effect creating a visual illusion of space.
- Try a half and half paint treatment, paint from the skirting boards up to the middle of the wall with a neat crisp edge. Choose a darker shade at the bottom and a bright shade at the top half and on the ceiling to create a backdrop for furniture and artwork.
- Combine storage with wall décor. Hang boxes or floating wall units and display your favourite books and ornaments neatly.
- Wood panelling is a great way to cover up walls in need of attention. A popular choice at the moment is to take the panelling two thirds up the wall, paint a contrasting shade and add a shelf trim to pop frames and ornaments. Of course, you can also cheat with wood panel effect wallpaper too, you’d almost never know the difference.
