Over the past few years the view of the home has changed for many households. But what does this mean for the trends of kitchens?
Kitchens are now not only a place to cook but where kids do their home work and parents conduct their teams meetings online. Space saving functionality is on the up to help accommodate the changed use of many families. Having appliances that offer more than one function and therefore free up space are becoming more attractive.
Durable kitchen surfaces are sought after because of the wear and tear on them. Therefore composite worktops and splash backs are more popular and can be made to look like other materials, such as stone and marble.
Blue and grey kitchens have been popular in recent years but they are making way for cosier hues, more natural warmer colours such as taupe and green.
Display cabinets are making a come back. Open shelving is hard to maintain and walls of closed cabinets can overwhelm a room. Glass fronted cabinets are therefore a great alternative, they give a sense of openness but need less maintenance!
Tactile touchpoints are going to be a big thing, especially if you just want to spruce up your existing kitchen. There are so many options with cabinet handles and it can really transform the look of your kitchen, with a different colour or style. And it can add a touch of luxury!
Looking forward to how these trends grow over the coming year and if you want any help designing your new kitchen do get in touch.
