Pantone colour of the year 2021

This year Pantone have not one, but two colours in their forecast for 2021. Every year, American company Pantone, forecasts global colour trends and this year they have moved away from their traditional one colour recommendation.

Their chosen colours, Ultimate Gray and Illuminating, are said to be a marriage of colour which express strength and hopefulness which is both enduring and uplifting. Whilst the colours are very different from each other the two elements support each other, suggesting deeper feelings of thoughtfulness with the promise of something sunny and friendly, something we will all welcome after the year of uncertainty we have had.

Ultimate Gray is a quiet dependable colour which provides a firm foundation of steadiness and resilience, such as the weathered pebbles on a beach that continue to stand the test of time. While Illuminating is a bright and cheerful yellow evoking optimism of a sunshine-filled day, giving us hope that things are going to get brighter.

Are these two colours you think you will use in your home? Or are you just happy to reflect and enjoy the hope that they bring?
